Algorithms for induced biclique optimization problems

چکیده
We present polynomial time algorithms for induced biclique optimization problems in the following families of graphs: polygon-circle graphs, 4-hole-free graphs, complements of intervalfilament graphs and complements of subtree-filament graphs. Such problems are to find maximum: induced bicliques, induced balanced bicliques and induced edge bicliques. These problems have applications for biclique clustering of proteins by PPI criteria, of documents, and of web pages. Scale Reduction Techniques for Computing Maximum Induced Bicliques
Given a simple, undirected graph G, a biclique is a subset of vertices inducing a complete bipartite subgraph in G. In this paper, we consider two associated optimization problems, the maximum biclique problem, which asks for a biclique of the maximum cardinality in the graph, and the maximum edge biclique problem, aiming to find a biclique with the maximum number of edges in the graph. These N...
متن کاملStar and Biclique Coloring and Choosability
A biclique of a graph G is an induced complete bipartite graph. A star of G is a biclique contained in the closed neighborhood of a vertex. A star (biclique) k-coloring of G is a k-coloring of G that contains no monochromatic maximal stars (bicliques). Similarly, for a list assignment L of G, a star (biclique) L-coloring is an L-coloring of G in which no maximal star (biclique) is monochromatic...
متن کاملApproximating Clique and Biclique Problems
We present here 2-approximation algorithms for several node deletion and edge deletion biclique problems and for an edge deletion clique problem. The biclique problem is to find a node induced subgraph that is bipartite and complete. The objective is to minimize the total weight of nodes or edges deleted so that the remaining subgraph is bipartite complete. Several variants of the biclique prob...
متن کاملNearly Tight Approximability Results for Minimum Biclique Cover and Partition
In this paper, we consider the minimum biclique cover and minimum biclique partition problems on bipartite graphs. In the minimum biclique cover problem, we are given an input bipartite graph G = (V,E), and our goal is to compute the minimum number of complete bipartite subgraphs that cover all edges of G. This problem, besides its correspondence to a well-studied notion of bipartite dimension ...
متن کاملExact Exponential-Time Algorithms for Finding Bicliques in a Graph
Throughout the paper all graphs G = (V,E) are undirected and simple. An induced biclique of G is a complete bipartite induced subgraph of G. A noninduced biclique is a complete bipartite (not necessarily induced) subgraph of G. Equivalently, the pair (X, Y ) of disjoint vertex subsets X ⊆ V and Y ⊆ V is a non-induced biclique of G if {x, y} ∈ E for all x ∈ X and y ∈ Y . If, additionally, X and ...
